1895 Born in Okayama Pref.

1910 Learned western painting at "Tensai-gajuku" school in Osaka, a private art school supervised by MATSUBARA Sangoro.

1919 Studied under TAKEUTCHI Seiho,in Kyoto,a notable master of Japanese painting.
Accepted in 1st "Teiten-exhibition",held by the National Academy.

1923 Sketched scenes in Tokyo after the Kanto Earthquake.

1924 "After the Earthquake in 1923" ("Saika no ato"), a work done by sketches of Tokyo after the Earthquake were not accepted by "Teiten-exhibition".

1926 "Nanzenji-Temple" was accepted by 7th "Teiten-exhibition".

1928 Traveled to make sketchs of the Fifty-Three Stages of the Tokaido.

1936 Became an Assistant professor of Municipal Art College in Kyoto(-1949).

1953 Organized "Seito-sha",a group of Japanese painters.
Became an instructor of Okayama University (-1972).

1960 "Waves" was awarded Japan Art Prize.

1980 Donated 489 pieces of his works to Kurashiki City.

1986 Became an honorary citizen of Kurashiki City.

1987 Awarded the Order of Cultural Merits.

1988 Donated another 211 pieces.
Died in Sept 26, at the age of 92.
